Materials

Today's lesson is all about finding out what objects are made from and which materials suit what the object will be used for.  For example:

Would you make a teapot out of chocolate?

A chocolate teapot would melt when you poured hot water into it. It would be better to make it from a material that doesn’t melt easily.

Our starter activity below will help you to think about what materials are used and why.

Today we are going to carry out a simple test to see which material would be best for an umbrella.  You can use materials from around your home to test using the investigation in the link below.
