In our first Art topic this term, we will be looking at tints, tones and shades. In this topic, children will learn about colour theory by studying the colour wheel and exploring mixing tints, shades and tones. They will learn about significant landscape artworks and features of landscapes before using this knowledge to create landscape paintings. 

We practised creating using black and white paint to create different tints and shades.  By using these colours we were able to create colour palettes.  Using the inspiration of famous paintings we then tried to create a colour palette showing the colours the artist used to make the paintings.
