Still Life

We will start our new learning with a trip to The Collection in Lincoln. We will be visiting the gallery to view important pieces of work by a range of significant artists. During the visit, we will look closely at the exhibits and gather information by drawing thumbnail sketches of the images in our sketchbooks and reading the exhibit information. Children are introduced to the term ‘still life’.  We will observe and make sketches of famous still life works and discuss the use of visual elements- subject matter, colour, composition and texture.  We will study still life paintings by significant artists- Paul Cezanne, Van Gough and Georges Braque, and explore the use of colour in more depth by identifying colours in a small section of painting and mixing and matching colours.
