The children will revisit colour theory, including recalling the names of the primary colours and how to use them to make secondary colours. They will explore ways of making hues by varying the amount of each primary colour that they mix.
They will explore and describe the use of colour in various paintings from different artists and genres and describe them using colour-related vocabulary. They will end the term painting a simple colour wheel and use primary and secondary colour to paint a colourful, patterned composition.
Wassily Kandinsky and Piet Mondrian
We will be studying the work of two famous abstract artists Wassily Kandinsky and Piet Mondrian.
We made our own stamped out of clay. We then used primary colours to stamp our pattern onto a piece of paper where we could see the primary colours mixing into secondary colours.
