Writing to Inform

During our writing lessons this term, we will be learning how to write to inform. This will include writing a recount of our WOW event, writing a set of instruction on how to make a jam sandwich and writing a postcard.

Within these types of writing, we will be focusing on:

  • Letter  formation
  • Writing a sentence
  • Saying our ideas before writing them
  • Using a capital letter for a name, place or start of a sentence
  • Using a full stop to demarcate the end of a sentence
  • Using finger spaces between words
  • Use the word 'and' to join words and clauses
  • Using our phonics to spell unknown words

Adjectives will also be introduced to enhance our writing and the use of exclamation marks and question marks will be taught.
