Writing

This term we are focusing on writing to Persuade. At the start of the term we will be writing a letter to persuade Farmer Hoggett not to go through with his plan to turn our school field into a farm! We will also be writing a persuasive advert using all of the features.

Reading in our class

During our Reading lessons at school, we spend Monday's and Friday's lessons working with our Class Book. During the rest of our Reading lessons we focus on Reading Comprehension skills using high quality fiction texts, non-fiction texts and poems.

This term our Class Book is The Battle of Bubble and Squeak by Phillippa Pearce.

Expectations for Reading At Home

It is expected that everyone reads 5 times a week and makes an entry into their reading journals. Everyone who does read 5 times a week will get a raffle ticket and be entered into a draw to win a brand new book each week! Alongside this, reading 5 times a week will help the children to improve their reading fluency and comprehension skills and unlock lots of magical adventures and information!

It is expected that child read the book three times to help improve their fluency and comprehension skills.

Children will need to have a book bag in school every day.

We will be visiting the school library every week to pick a book that we are interested in. These books may be too hard for the children to read independently, but they are a great opportunity to share the book together and for you to read with your children.
