Writing

Writing

This term we will be writing to entertain.  We will be retelling stories in both the 3rd and 1st person.  We will then be using the stimulus of 'We're Going on a Bear Hunt' to write our own poems!

Our unit will start with our fairy tale from last term 'Jack and the Beanstalk'.  We will become storytellers using our voices to retell the story using exciting vocabulary and performing using a clear audible voice.  Then we will move to writing the story for others to enjoy.

Have you ever wondered what the story might sound like if the giant wrote it?  Do you think it would be the same?  We will take the role of the giant and use our inference skills from reading the story to think about how the character thinks and feels in the story.  Then we will become the giant and tell the story from our new point of view writing in the 1st person.

We're going on a Bear Hunt is a favourite poetry book of ours!  We will read the poem and practice performing it together.  Our next task will be to use the poem to change the words to create our own poem 'We're going on a bug hunt' by Gospels Class!  I wonder what adjectives will be used to describe the different creatures we meet!
