Lincolnshire Smiles - (Due to the current pandemic we are unable to run our normal Lincolnshire Smiles Project in school)

Tooth decay is the most common oral disease affecting children and young people in England, yet it is largely preventable. Poor oral health can affect children and young people’s ability to sleep, eat, speak, play and socialise with other children

What is Lincolnshire Smiles?

Lincolnshire Smiles is a preventative tooth brushing programme designed to address oral health inequalities by helping young children to develop positive oral health skills for life.

Why introduce Lincolnshire Smiles?

Evidence based studies have found:

  • Daily application of fluoride toothpaste to teeth reduces the incidence and severity of tooth decay in children.
  • Children in more deprived areas are less likely to brush their teeth at least twice daily.
  • Brushing each day at school over a two year period is effective for preventing tooth decay and can establish life-long behavior to promote oral health.

Here is some more information for you and your children. There are links to videos and some activities to complete at home. (we have previously done this as a class)
