What can you see in Summer?

On our first day back we will be having a Teddy Bears Picnic and eating lots of healthy Summer fruits. We will be able to bring our own teddy bears along!!

The first week back after Half-Term we should have some new additions to Noah's Ark arriving.... I wonder if you can guess what they might be.......

Week beginning 28 June - we recently planted grass seed into cups and addd our faces. Today our ‘hair’ was long enough to have a trim ✂️

The butterflies 🦋 have been out of their chrysalis for 4 days now so it is time for them to fly away and lay some eggs and start the lifecycle all over again.

Week beginning 21st June - we have waited patiently for 11 days, but finally one of our butterflies have emerged from their chrysalis/cocoon caterpillar 🐛 🦋

Several weeks ago we planted a variety of seeds. Our sunflowers are now growing well, but no sign of our apple pips and watermelon seeds growing. HOWEVER, this week we spotted a different looking plant amongst the sunflowers and one of Noah’s Arks Nanny’s, who is a keen gardener, confirmed it was in fact an apple tree, even if a very small one.

Week beginning 14.06.21 - the warm weather has seen the caterpillars grow and then enter their cocoons/chrysalis. We waited a few days and watched as they as jiggled and wriggled as they spun inside. Some of Noah’s Ark weren’t too keen when Mrs Tory transferred them to their net ready to emerge as butterflies 🦋 there were lots of ‘frass’ to remove which is the caterpillar waste.

Our caterpillars have arrived and are growing SO much everyday! We were able to talk about the lifecycle of a caterpillar/butterfly and compared it to the lifecycle of our chicks. We were fascinated by the caterpillars and asked lots of questions, we researched the web type material in the pot and discovered it was to protect the caterpillars from the weather and being eaten by other animals.

We had a lovely afternoon preparing our picnic by chopping up delicious Summer fruits and making sandwiches. We then went into our Enchanted Garden to eat our food and chat to each other with our teddies.

We will be looking at lots of Summer items and how to stay safe in the sun. We will be having lots of water activities to keep us cool!
