Evolution and Inheritance 

In this Science topic we will build on previous knowledge to find out more about how living things on earth have changed over time. We will introduce the idea that characteristics are passed from parents to their offspring. This will then link to our exploration of ideas such as natural selection and survival of the fittest which have led to animals (and plants) adapting over time to suit their environment.  

Inheritance

In science, inheritance refers to the genes that are passed on from biological parents to offspring. When we refer to inherited characteristics we tend to focus on physical characteristics as these are easy to spot but inherited characteristics include abilities such as taste and smell.
