Welcome toSt Nicholas Church of England Primary Academy

2023-2024

We have such generous parents at our school who have very kindly created two bug hotels for us. We had great fun finding natural materials to create a habitat.

A lovely gift from our friends at Picture News!

We decided we wanted to help look after the school environment so we asked Mr Chamberlain for the litter pickers and got to work! We found an array of items from a metal spoon to a sock.

Leading class Collective Worship

Planning an old book sale, a Spelling Bee and chatting about our KS2 Reading area

We asked Mrs Morgan to teach us some Makaton as one of our school family uses Makaton to communicate. We learnt some basic signs to greet each other and then the song 'You've got a friend in me.' As Little FISH representatives, we taught our classes the basics signs we had learnt. During our Nativity, one child taught the families how to sign some of the words in our Nativity. One Little FISH representative went home and taught his mum how to sign. We can't wait for Mrs Morgan to come back in and teach us more.

We wanted to make our front entrance even more welcoming so we decided to plant bulbs to come out in spring.

Our beautiful planters!

We delivered our first Collective Worship

Picture News Webinar

After only being together a week, our Little FISH spoke to over 800 people on a Picture News Webinar. They spoke about how we use Picture News in our school and they told everyone what they love about using Picture News. St Nichs' Little FISH were the only school to be asked to help deliver this special training to a variety of people in schools such as: teachers, Headteachers and other children. The feedback our Little FISH received was wonderful. Our Little FISH really did shine their light across the whole of the UK!

o say thank you, Picture News sent the Little FISH a little Picture News bear and a badge. They also wrote a lovely letter to say a great big thank you!
