Writing

This term we are focusing on Writing to Inform. Over the term we will be planning and writing a letter to inform an alien what it is like to live on planet Earth!

We will also be writing a Non-Chronological Report to inform people about the Anglo-Saxon settling in England. During this we will learn about the features of a Non-Chronological report and use learning from our Invasion Topic.

Our Class Book

We have a really exciting class book to enjoy all together this term! It is The Lion, The Witch and The Wardrobe by C. S. Lewis.

During this adventure story, the children are evacuated to stay safe during the war. Little do they know that through the wardrobe in their new house is a magical land waiting to be explored!

Expectations for Reading At Home

It is expected that everyone reads 5 times a week and makes an entry into their reading journals. Everyone who does read 5 times a week will get a raffle ticket and be entered into a draw to win a brand new book each week! Alongside this, reading 5 times a week will help the children to improve their reading fluency and comprehension skills and unlock lots of magical adventures and information!

It is expected that child read the book three times to help improve their fluency and comprehension skills.

Children will need to have a book bag in school every day.

We will be visiting the school library every week to pick a book that we are interested in. These books may be too hard for the children to read independently, but they are a great opportunity to share the book together and for you to read with your children.
