Writing to Discuss

In term 6 we will be starting the term off with writing a debate. Moving on, the children will then have the opportunity to take part in a discussion making points for and against the opposition. year five will finish off the final term writing poems. We will be using all of our SPaG skills, such as: Fronted adverbials, casual conjunctions, relative pronouns and modal verbs, along with many others. Children will then be able to present and publish their work so that they see the end results.

Reading Class Novel

I am Billie Jean King

Our class novel this term changes to ‘I am Billie Jean King’. Fiction will be our focus in week 1 and 2. We will be using fictional texts and using our VIPERS skills when answering any questions. In week 3 and 4 we then move to Non-fiction text where children can compare true events and then finally, we will be completing the term looking at poetry. Please encourage your child to read at home, this can be any book/text of their choice.
