Writing

This term in writing we will be focusing on writing to entertain. During this term we will be: writing poetry to perform for Remembrance Day, writing a setting and character description for a 3rd person narrative and creating a full story for our 1st person narrative. We will use a range or writing stimulus for these units with Mexican links to make it fun and engaging with our Hola Mexico topic.

We have been developing our descriptive writing by using ‘Show don’t Tell’ to describe Miguel from Coco.

”His feet trembled like a lemon dangling from a citrus tree on a breezy day”

”Goosebumps crawled all over his glowing skin”

We have created some fantastic setting descriptions for The Land of the Dead scene from Coco

Reading

Reading is a vital part of education and is linked to increased progress in all areas of learning.  Therefore the expectation of reading at home is daily.

This will be celebrated by children being entered into a draw, and the chance to win a prize in celebration assembly on Fridays.

Our class read this term is Tom's Midnight Garden.
