RE

Debate

‘Does it matter if God exists or not?’

This afternoon we held a debate. We thought about arguments related to the above statement, discussed potential questions to ask each other, and then presented our arguments.

The Trimurti

We are looking at the key beliefs in Hinduism over the next two weeks. We learned that Brahman is the spirit that lives within all things, and that part is named the ‘Atman.’ Then, the Trimurti are named as Gods which complete the cycle or birth, life and death: Brahma, Vishnu and Shiva.

This term in RE we are looking at life journeys with a focus on the Hindu and Islamic faiths. We will be exploring their rites of passage and how religion can create a sense of social identity and belonging as well as understanding the impact religion can have on people’s lives. Along the way, Year 6 will create comparisons to their own beliefs and what we have already learnt this year to create a rounded understanding of other world religions.
