Mental Health & Well-being

Mental Health and Well-Being

Embedded in our Christian vision of: 'Let Your Light Shine', we are committed to supporting all children, families and staff with their mental health and well-being.

We have a whole school approach to this which is led by our Pastoral Team and supported by every member of staff in the school.

To ensure all members of our school family have a voice when it comes to mental health, we have pupils from across the school on our 'Little FISH' Council and a Staff Champion who ensure that everyone is heard.

In addition to our whole school offer, we provide individual and group support to children as well as support for families as needed. We work closely with other external agencies such as the Mental Health Support Team to provide bespoke support for those children and families who need it and we love nothing more than seeing them flourish as a result.

How to access support:

Talking Mental Health

'Talking Mental Health' is an animation designed to help begin conversations about mental health in the classroom and beyond. The animation and accompanying resources have been created by a team of animators, children, teachers and clinicians, and is being taught to year 5 and 6 children around the UK.

This website ( click the picture for a link ) has some wonderful resources and Mindfulness videos alongside being created by a qualified well-being teacher.

The school community in which Kay works has adopted a pastoral approach to cater for the wide diversity of needs and challenges facing young people in the primary and post-primary sectors of the school. Kay introduced mindfulness and yoga into the school, and is deeply invested in the wellbeing curriculum.

Kay teaches with her heart, mind and spirit by listening deeply to the voice of students so their needs can be met.
