For the first half of the term, we will revisit and extend our understanding of colour theory looking at contrast, compliment, tints, tones and shades. We will develop this knowledge and learn how to mix with systemic accuracy.  We will look at landscape paintings and explore how they can be used to represent light, shadow and perspective.

Still Life with Basket of Apples by Vincent van Gogh, 1885

After half term we will explore the work of barrier breaking black artists such as: Edmonia Lewis, Henry Ossawa Tanner, Augusta Savage, Gordon Parks, Elizabeth Catlett and many more. Following on from researching their pieces and create and present a digital mood board, the children will use a sketchbook to develop sketches based in their ideas about human rights, equality, and race.
