Sow, Grow and Farm!
This project teaches children about the features and characteristics of land use in agricultural regions across the world. We will look into the different types of farming we have on the UK and how geographical features impact the type of farming done in particular regions. We will look at the seasonality of different foods and discuss the impact of changing our diet to suit what can be harvested at different times through the year. We will also look at foods that Britain import from around the world, understand why this happens and debate whether there is still a place for importing food in a world that is becoming increasingly aware of the carbon footprint the transport methods have. This term we will also be developing our map skills, using local maps to find features using six-figure grid references.
