This project teaches children about the techniques that artists use when composing landscape images, such as colour and atmosphere.
During this unit the children will become landscape artists, painting or drawing a mountainous landscape of their choice. They will have the opportunity to explore landscape art and share their thoughts and ideas. They will then think about the type of landscape they would like to create and what materials they want to use.
The children will use their computing skills to look online for a photograph to use as a starting point for their work, using the search terms ‘mountain landscape’, ‘mountain photographs’ and other relevant search terms. They will be encouraged to consider whether they will paint or draw all of their chosen image, or isolate part of it.
