This term we are looking at Evolution and Inheritance in animals.

We looked at classification last term, so that knowledge will be really important for us!

Evolution - Evolution is the process of adaptation over a long period of time. Living organisms that are born with traits that mean they survive in their habitat are more likely to have a chance to mate and pass on their traits to their offspring. These traits are inherited.

Inheritance - Inheritance means that living things reproduce and pass on characteristics to their offspring. You’ve probably noticed that you might look like your parents - features of your face, eye colour, hair colour, may be inherited from a parent.
