History

This week we will be learning to order information on a timeline.

At the beginning of term, we asked you to bring in or email in three photos of yourselves as a baby, toddler and as they are now. Now you are at home, you will still be able to complete this activity, even if you just draw pictures instead of using photos.

Look at the slide show about the childhood stages of life and see if you can complete the timeline provided to revisit the stages of life.

Then use the Stages of life word cards to sort your images into three stages – baby, toddler and child.

Challenge them to sequence their photographs to make a personal timeline.

Ask questions to guide them.

Which photograph comes first on your timeline?

Where will you place the photograph of you as a toddler?

Which photograph will be last on your timeline?

Use the terms BABY TODDLER CHILD

After organising their photographs, encourage the children to share their timeline with you or someone in their house to check they have placed their photographs correctly.

Year 1 – place three photographs onto the timeline – labelled with ages.

Year 2 – Label the timeline with ages or years.  Place the photographs onto the timeline and extend by adding other significant events onto their timeline.
