Vocabulary:Bible, God, belief, forgiveness, parable, Christians |
This term we will be building on our prior learning of God and Christianity. We will learn that Christians believe in God and to find out about God they look in the Bible. We will look at how Christians view God and God's attributes such as being loving, kind and forgiving. We will then read stories from the Bible that show God's attributes.
The story of Noah's Ark is a popular Bible story that Year 1 should be familiar with from EYFS. We will read the story and discuss what the story teaches Christians about God.
The story of the lost son
The children will learn that Christians believe that God is loving, kind, fair and forgiving. They will listen to the parable called the Prodigal Son and will discuss how even though the younger son spent all of his fathers money and moved away, when he returned his father forgave him. This will link to the children’s understanding of how Christians believe God forgives them when they do wrong.
We will read the story of Joseph and discuss what the story teaches Christians about God.
Similarly to the previous stories, we will read the story of Daniel and the Lion's Den and discuss what the story teaches Christians about God.
