Entitlement and Enrichment

2025 - 2026

St Nicholas C of E Primary Academy were delighted to be invited to take part in the BBC Radio Lincolnshire Christmas Concert at BBC Radio Lincolnshire’s annual Christmas celebration in 2025, held at the Centenary Methodist Church in Boston. The event was attended by a large audience and is a much-loved local celebration across Lincolnshire, with recordings broadcast on Christmas Day. Our children performed a unique and moving poem, beautifully sharing the Christian story of the birth of Jesus Christ and making us incredibly proud.

We were delighted to welcome Father Paul into our school to lead us in our Christingle service. As staff lit the candles and the whole school joined together in song, the school hall was filled with a warm, magical atmosphere. It was a special time of reflection and celebration, bringing our school community together to share in the true meaning of Christingle.

We were thrilled to present Knock Knock Nativity, performed by our EYFS and KS1 classes! It was wonderful to see our youngest children shine so brightly, showing confidence and joy as they performed on stage for a full audience. Their enthusiasm and hard work truly made the show a memorable celebration for everyone.

Christmas Fayre 2025. Our school was proud to organise a Christmas Fayre for the whole community to enjoy. The children worked hard to create beautiful homemade crafts, alongside a variety of stalls from local businesses and, of course, a much-loved Santa’s Grotto. It was wonderful to see the community come together in a festive spirit, celebrating diversity, creativity and togetherness at this special time of year.

Saints Class ASDA Visit. Year 5 enjoyed a special visit to ASDA, where they sang Christmas songs to celebrate and share in the season of goodwill. Customers thoroughly enjoyed the children’s enthusiastic singing and joyful dancing, making it a wonderful way to shine our light and spread happiness throughout the local community. After performing, the children were treated to a behind-the-scenes tour led by ASDA’s local Community Champion, Steve. For many, the highlight of the visit was the exciting chance to have a go on the tills themselves!

Noah's Ark and Pilgrims' trip to see the Cinderella Pantomime. Some of our children had the wonderful and memorable experience of visiting the local Blackfriars Theatre to watch the truly magical pantomime Cinderella! For many, it was their very first time stepping inside a theatre and enjoying a live performance. The children were full of excitement, joining in enthusiastically with all the shouting, cheering, and, of course, BOOOOing!

Year 1 visited Lincolnshire Life Museum as part of their History learning. They had a fantastic time exploring how children lived in the past, discovering everyday life, toys, and school experiences from long ago. It was a wonderful opportunity for their learning to come to life!

Year 5 Visit to Lincoln Mosque

Saints Class visited Lincoln Mosque, where we met the Imam who taught us lots of information about the building, its features and the religion of Islam.

We had an amazing day celebrating Christmas, wearing festive colours and donating prizes for our Christmas Fair. Our Christmas dinner was a wonderful time to come together, enjoy good food, and celebrate the festive season as a school community.

Christmas Book Fair

The whole school were invited to attend our Christmas Book Fair and at just £3.50 a book - so many books were sold!  This resulted in more books for children and us earning more free books for school!

Year 2 completed an Emotions workshop

Our Year 5 Reading Leaders loved the opportunity to spend time with the children at Boston Nursery School, sharing stories and enjoying an afternoon of reading together. It was wonderful to see the older pupils supporting and encouraging a love of books, while the younger children listened with excitement and curiosity. Reading is so important as it helps develop language, imagination and confidence, and this special time together showed just how much joy and connection books can bring to everyone involved.

Spooky Disco. We had a fantastic ‘spooky’ disco, kindly supported by the PFTA, where everyone was invited to dress up and party to some delightfully spooky tunes. The atmosphere was full of fun and laughter, with prizes awarded for the best-dressed costumes, the most enthusiastic dancers, and even a carved pumpkin competition that added an extra touch of seasonal magic!

Michael Rosen Day 2025

Our children had a fantastic time celebrating Michael Rosen Day in school. As part of our learning, the classes enjoyed watching Michael Rosen perform some of his much-loved poems, including a few classroom favourites! The photos below show the children joining in with the actions, laughing along, and being inspired by his energetic storytelling. Mrs Smith even gave each class a special present — their very own Michael Rosen book to share. It was a wonderful opportunity to explore poetry in a fun and engaging way, and to spark a love of language across the school.

World Book Day Selection Panel

Children at our school were invtied to join the World Book Day selection Panel for 2027.  This involved us recieving a special parcel of prospective books, pitches from authors and taking part in activities in order to select the best books to put forward to the panel.   One representative from each class then came to the World Book Day Panel meeting to share the views of the classes across school.  The book winners remain TOP SECRET until Spetember 2026 when the results are announced!

COP30 Picture news

COP30 is a big meeting for world leaders in Brazil in November 2025 to talk about how to fix climate change. It's the 30th time countries have met for this kind of conference, which is also called the "Conference of the Parties" (COP). Everyone comes together to make plans to keep the Earth from getting too warm and to protect the environment for the future.

We joined a COP30 Picture News special to find out more about COP30 and the impact it is hoped it will have on the world.

Children in Need 2025

Our children have enjoyed two visits from Pudsey this year, raising awareness and money for the BBC Children in Need Appeal.  Our first visit was when BBC Radio Lincolnshire visited as part of their Thousand Mile Challenge.  The station's team, along with presenters from other BBC Radio stations, completed a 1,00 mile walk across the UK all while tethered together!  Some of our teachers completed part of the walk with Scott whilst Pudsey and the rest of our school family cheered them on!

Following this, Mr Steve also visited with Pudsey joining in some singing and playing on the playground!

Anti Bullying Awareness Week

This week ( 11-14 Nov) we have been celebrating with the Anti Bullying Alliance and raising awareness of how we can use our 'Power For Good' to support the awareness of Bullying.

Wee wore Odd socks on Monday to start the week off and on Wednesday we had class assemblies to think about our own Super Powers for Good . With the help of some Anti Bullying Alliance videos  classes, small groups and individual children wrote acrostic poems about  Our School Super Powers for Good.

If you wish to find out more about supporting the Anti Bullying Alliance and what our school family does to ensure Bullying is not accepted at our school please have a look at Mrs Curtis Class page.

Here are some of the amazing class, group and individual poems that were written by our school family to share and raise awareness of 'Anti Bullying '

Year 1 enjoyed a brilliant road safety workshop where they learned all about how to safely cross the road. They even had a practise using a zebra crossing.

Y5 Outer Dowsing STEM Workshop

Outer Dowsing Offshore Wind will be one of the UK’s largest offshore wind farms upon completion generating enough renewable electricity equivalent to the annual electricity consumption of over 1.6 million households, playing a critical role in achieving the UK Government’s ambition to deliver 50 GW of offshore wind by 2030 and to achieve net zero by 2050.  For our children Outer Dowsing will become a major employer in the area, so finding out about their work has proved inspiring.

Year 5  were priviledged to be involved in a visit from the team, where the children found out about the wind farm, why it is important, how it works and the jobs that are available working there.  During the workshop the children were challenged to investigate the best blades for the turbines which would generate the most electricity.  The children made predictions, carried out investigations, collected results and drew their own conclusions.

Harvest Festival

For our Harvest Festival this year, we have used the kindness and generosity of our local farming heroes to be able to offer our children and families the chance to smell, taste and learn all about the vegetables and groceries that are grown and created right here in Boston. After a classroom tasting session, children took their families to our free Harvest 'shop' to take some tasty ingredients home for their tea.

Years 5 and 6 Celebrate Lincolnshire Day

Saints and Prophets Classes were invited to celebrate Lincolnshire Day with other schools from across the county at the Lincolnshire Showground.  Local charities, businesses and groups created workshops for the children to experience some of the things they do.  These included: Netabll England, Lincoln City FC, Nunny's Farm, Forest Schools, Orsted, Mini-First aid, Blackney Farm Estates, Flowers by Suzanne, HSBC, CO-OP, cookery, Lincolnshire Widlife Trust and many many more!  We had an eye-opening day meeting new people and finding out about many different careers we could have when we are older as well as having lots of fun!

Macmillan Coffee and Cake Afternoon

Our school community came together with incredible generosity and spirit to raise a staggering £563.50 in support of Macmillan Cancer Research. From baking and donating to sharing memories and enjoying coffee and cake, it was wonderful to see everyone unite for such an important cause. Thank you to all who contributed – your kindness will make a real difference.

EYFS Bread Making

Community Champion Asda Steve visit to EYFS to make bread linked to the story 'Little Red Hen'. “Bread in a bag” is a fun, hands-on activity in EYFS that supports multiple areas of learning and development. It allows children to explore early science through observing changes, practise maths skills through measuring and sequencing, and develop language by describing textures, smells and actions. The mixing and squashing help build fine motor strength, while working together encourages turn-taking, cooperation and pride. As a low-mess, sensory-rich activity, it is inclusive and engaging, offering opportunities to talk about healthy eating, food origins and community as children enjoy sharing what they have made.

Whole School Fruit Picking in the Orchard

It was wonderful to see so many children and their families enjoying time together in our school orchard, picking cooking apples and pears to take home. A lovely community moment with everyone getting involved!
