Bling!

We will begin this term by exploring the story Bling! 

In this modern retelling of the King Midas myth, Billy's wish for gold is granted in the form of a magic cushion that can turn any object to gold! With a new-found popularity at school, Billy is faced with a terrible dilemma when his beloved cat accidentally enters his bedroom (where the cushion is kept) whilst Billy is at school...

The children will pick apart the dilemma, trying to understand and empathise with the character's situation. They will then write the ending of the story through a diary entry in the role of the character of Billy.
