Animals

Vocabulary:

Mammals, fish, birds, reptiles, amphibians, omnivore, herbivore, carnivore.

This term, we will be exploring a range of animals and there will be a big focus on identifying and classifying them. One way we  can classify is by putting the animals into five groups: mammals, fish, birds, reptiles and amphibians. We will also classify animals by the different diets animals eat. Here, we use the labels ‘carnivore’, ‘omnivore’ and ‘herbivore’. After classifying the animals in a variety of ways, we will then  describe and compare the structure of animals. For example, comparing a robin and a penguin. A robin has a short body and beak whereas a penguin has a long body and beak.
