In Year 1, children do their writing through their RWI and through Talk Through Stories.

In Year 1, we also have daily handwriting sessions where we follow Ruth Miskin's Handwriting Scheme: Letter Village. To learn how to write these letters, in EYFS we use the below rhymes. Once the children are in Year 1 and are able to write with correct letter formation. We move to Letter Village where the rhymes are focused on new 'picture hooks' to help children visualise the letter. In Letter Village, letters are grouped by their formation (as seen below).
