Reading

In Year 6, our reading expectations are that children read 5 times a week. This is because reading is the gateway into understanding the world and also drastically improves standards in writing. We would encourage reading with your children as frequently as possible to develop understanding and create meaningful conversations about reading.

This term we will be reading Skellig by David Almond. This is an exciting book from the Pie Corbett reading spine about a young boy who discovers a mysterious creature in an outhouse at the new family home.

Writing

This term in writing we will be focusing on writing to persuade. During this term we will be: rewriting The Arrival to add dialogue and words, writing a letter to persuade and writing a biography about Charles Darwin to link to our Darwin's Delights topic.
