This week we are writing our non-chronological reports about Longships. Use the information provided to remind you of our research and follow your task for each day. 

 

Monday - Introduction. 

Why are you writing this text? Could you begin with a question such as;

 

Have you ever wanted to find out how Vikings were able to travel so quickly and raid so many places? This text will tell you everything you need to know and more.

 

Remember, your introduction should be 2-3 sentences and should really grab the readers attention. 

 

Tuesday - Paragraph 1

This paragraph is to explain how the longboats were used for travelling, exploring and raiding. Think about all of the information that we have found and look back at the fact sheets. Make sure that these facts are exciting and informative.

 

Remember, your paragraphs should be around 6 sentences. 

 

Wednesday - Paragraph 2

This paragraph is to explain how the longboats were powered. This about wind power, in the large sails, and also the use of man power when there was no wind.  Find pictures to help you describe what this was like. Make sure that these facts and exciting and informative.

 

Remember, your paragraphs should be around 6 sentences.

 

Thursday - Paragraph 3

This paragraph is to explain all of the special features that the longboats had. Think about the dragon head at the front, the protective shields along the sides and the large colourful said. Find pictures to help you describe what this was like. Make sure that these facts and exciting and informative.

 

Remember, your paragraphs should be around 6 sentences.

 

Friday - Conclusion 

In your conclusion you can remind the reader just how amazing these boats were. Remind the reader of any interesting facts that you have given them.
